I bought this Cherish Punch a short while before the Holidays and only recently got the time to play around with it. Sadly I had already tossed out the package as well as the insert that came with it so I was really at a loss- first trying random pieces of paper to see how best I can get the two to work together and eventually I gave up and went to YouTube! The first video I clicked on- the lady made specific reference to the insert that comes with the punch....even going so far as to say you should laminate it and never lose it...oh boy! I was loosing hope...I may never be able to get the proper benefit of owning this punch....then I got a bright idea: why not search to see if I could find the insert online...BINGO![...]Now in case the link gets removed from this review- it's pretty simple-The smallest piece you can use the combo on is 3.25". And it goes up by increments of 1.75"; so that the next size up is 5" then 6.75" and so on. That is to say, you can start with a 3.25" square or a rectangle 5"x6.75".Now once I understood the measurements needed, I was ready to experiment! Now I should mention that the video I saw on YouTube, the lady also had the same issue I would soon encounter: try as I might, I always had a little notch left in between the design. That is to say- the two corner punches and the one straight punch really do cut a total area just shy of the recommended 3.25"...maybe about 1-2mm. While it may be as simple as having a scissors handy to snip off the little "ears" left in between, it can catch your eye as being "off balanced" in the actual pattern and I can only imagine that the bigger you project the more evident the gap is going to be.The other thing I noticed with this combo is that once you use the corner punch, you CANNOT push the paper all the way(to the lip) into the straight one to continue the pattern. You MUST use the corner/curve guide. If you rely on using the lip on the straight punch to "get it straight" you will notice an inset of about 1-1.5mm-mismatched/misaligned against the corner. Now apart from those observations- these two punches work quite smoothly. They are sturdy and require very little pressure to cut through card stock.I can't wait to use them on an actual project!I received the Petal Lace punch today and I adore this punch even more than I thought I would! It is very lovely and punches so cleanly! I have the lace doily border punch and am very disappointed that it doesn't punch out all the tiny holes correctly. But this petal punch is perfect! I am still working on refining the precise paper/card size to get it measured up exactly right. Right now the best small size I have found is 3 1/4 inches x 4 7/8 inches. I have to be very careful to get it exactly right and then line up the punch precisely or else you can tell a little that it isn't right. but that's me being a picky perfectionist. I am sure as I use it more it will become more natural and I won't have to be checking myself each punch as I do now. I love the corner punch too! It looks beautiful with just the corners done and with the border all the way around a card. The biggest challenge was just figuring out the best paper measurements, which I will continue to experiment with to find just the right fit. Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful punch and works exactly as I could wish. I highly recommend the Petal Lace punch set!(I used this punch set with heavy card stock, 20# copy paper, scrapbook paper, 32# writing paper, and a variety of other papers. It worked beautifully on all of them.)Punch arrived quickly and in good order.I love Martha Stewart Punches, and this one is the first one I bought. The only thing I wish is that they would make a label for the punch which tells the size papers that particular punch needs. That's what I did. I got my smallest address labels and typed which sized cards I need to use each one, and placed it on each punch, as they are all different. They ought to print it on the punch as well as the guidelines they provide. That's my only suggestion, because I love most of the ones I have. I use the corners mostly because they do require certain sized papers for each one. If you are scrapbooking these would be excellent. I gave it a 4 because I use it for embroidered cards which limits me to the size of the envelopes I have, therefore certain sized papers don't always work for me.How perfect this was for my daughter's wedding invitations. My daughter's theme is beach and shells. (Us being in San Diego). Being on a budget, we made our own. Of 100 invites: We "crimped" the bottom part of the "menu" insert with the multi-shell stamp. It looked almost lacey. and used the large crimper for another insert. This is a larger punched out shell. We crimped all four edges of the announcement on the wedding with the single shell punch. (You know the part that says, "Mom & Dad invite you to the wedding of their daughter......"We are using the large punch to crimp the corner of the home made place cards. What a savings! The punch is still sharp and can take a large job with our medium-heavy stock paper. The punch really glammed up our invitations. They look great. We also added well-placed miniature pearls from Michael'sThe punch is well-made-heavy duty. Don't bother with ink-stamping and go to fedex office. Cheap printing!I hope this helps my fellow budget conscious crafters and parents of the bride/groom. :)The idea is good, but there's one shortcoming. You can only use it on precise measures, since punching the corner can only be done in specific places. So unless you can adapt your work to this, they're not worth it. If that's not an issue, yes the results with these border + corner punches is very good, although precise positioning of this it's not easy and takes some time. Mine had also cuting issues, some cuts were not perfect and the paper would come out with imperfections, something that plagues some of these punches. Not Amazon fault actually, seems mostly bad quality check by the manufacturer.Bought this to do my wedding invitations. My original card was too thick. It's cutting through 200gsm no problem. Our A4 paper doesn't tie in with the flow of cuts so I need to trim the A4 before I start the invites. Quite time consuming. I wasn't aware the USA had different paper sizes!! Overall though, a nice item.Love this punch combination of straight and corners, have used it in so many of my craft projects. This is the first time I have ordered something through Amazon from the US and while you have to wait a little longer it is worth it as the money you save from buying it in the Uk is really good. I have used this company before and would highly recommend them. This is a lovely punch set, very pretty pattern and easy to use. The instructions give what size paper are needed for the pattern repeat to match but I have found that by turning the punch over I can see where the pattern is and use the visual to make other size squares and rectangles thereby increasing its versatility.love the design of this and how it stamps out but feel it's not so easy to just stamp around any size you like as matching the final corner pattern after a run with the straighter edge is not so easy. One corner and a run is easy but had trouble matching second corner even when doing size they stated.
