This is a must, must, must, must have for your cookbook collection. It's the most epic book ever for hors d'oeuvres and appetizers. From super simple (tea sandwiches) to complex (smoked salmon with potato "fish" wafers) all of the recipes are well thought out and of course, being a Martha book everything is kicked up a notch. So the tea sandwiches might have toasted sesame seeds pressed on one side or the wontons burst with hot fragrant soup.I love being able to dip in and out of this book for a new appetizer and I've also made a bunch of recipes together for a cocktail party. The book is split into two sections - the first is beautiful pictures of all of the food and then the recipes are listed in the back. I love being able to flick through the pictures to find something I like and then whip to the back to find the recipe.You'll also find great inspiration from the pictures and presentation of the food - so melon balls might be served in a hollowed out melon for example (sounds a bit dated but actually looks really pretty with a bountiful pile of Prosciutto de Palma and salamis).Some of my favorite recipes include:Beef consomme sip (with enoki mushrooms - served in little sake cups for the wow factor)Sesame crusted chicken salad tea sandwichesTwice-baked truffled potatoesAsparagus and shiitake mushroom terrineGravlax, creme fraiche and caviar napoleonBlue cheese popovers.
